Renowned Carnatic vocalist Neyyattinkara Vasudevan is no more

As per the family sources the vocalist was 68 at the time of death. Contributing to a large extent to popularize Swathi compositions, his music is a combination of tradition and innovation. Vasudevan was born in 1940 in a humble amid Neyyattinkara and completed his studies in music from the Swathi Thirunal Music College in Thiruvananthapuram. Vasudevan has received numerous awards, including the Padmasree in 2004 and Swathi Puraskaram in 2007. He has been awarded 'Ganabhushanam ' in the year 1960 and given the title 'sangeetha Vidwan'in 1962. Vasudevan had served as a Professor in Tripunithura RLV College of music. In 1974, He joined All India Radio (AIR), Thiruvananthapuram as an artist and got retired in the year 2000. Due to his demise kerala has lost a great and innovative carnatic musician who has excelled in the popularisation of Swathi compositionsis and a great scholar in the field of music.
